Pet Taming Trouble
2010-03-22 00:00:00
There are a few other tricks out that that a solo hunter can use, but they tend to be somewhat specialized. For example, a low level quest in the first troll 鈥渢own鈥?had a reward of sticky glue. I saved mine with my hunter in case I needed it for tough tames. It would basically give me two ice traps. Hunters with higher level engineering can make a net gun. Certain bandit NPCs would drop nets, but I think Blizzard nurfed that some time back. It was just another case of PvP balancing taking something away from PvE gaming. sigh
You basically have two choices:

Holy crap. Did you screenshot the "We need you."? It'll be worth millions here soon.
And another thing thats rare, I got a tell from someone I didn't know to join a half-PUG group to an instance yesterday. Needless to say, I was amazed that I was asked to join a group over a Mage or even a shoe...-Alarikk 70 Troll Hunter

BG / Arena Build Question / Advice
2010-03-05 00:00:00
My guild is still a ways off from being ready to raid, so I've made the decision to get myself involved in the PvP scene. I've been running BGs like an absolute mad man trying to farm honor / marks for S1 and Honor gear. (I have 3/5 of the S1 now, still quite a ways to go, especially since no one on the Horde seems to understand how AV works...) When I started doing the PvP, I was using a cookie cutter 41/20/0 PvE build and doing alright.
The one thing I didn't like about that build was the "lack of control" when the fight was brought to my face, so I figured I would try this SV build so that I could enjoy some more CC with Scatter Shot and Wyvern Sting. Now I absolutely love Scatter Shot and couldn't imagine PvPing without it, but Wyvern Sting didn't really do it for me. Everytime I would try to sleep someone, someone would end damaging the target and screwing it all up. The one place I did find a nice use for it was in random 1v1 situations, it was nice to Wyvern, Trinket Up, Aimed Shot and blast away.
Anyway, using both of those specs I did some arena last week with a few guildies to get our feet wet in the whole experience. We did alright for it being our first time in the arena ...
More macro questions
2010-03-01 00:00:00
Yes, it will. I use a similar macro. We covered this topic in detail several threads back . . . but I can't find it right now.
My macro is shown below. Once the chains are down, it'll switch me back to Illhoof.
/target demon chains
/cast steady shot
/cast !autoshot
/target terestian

I think it was NorthAI that provided a great suggestion to combine all the special boss macros into one slightly bigger one in that prior thread. There's a couple other f...
Pentagon Paranoia? How Terrorists Might Use WoW to Nuke White House
2009-10-15 00:00:00
Planning a high level raid is tough enough in World of Warcraft, but a Pentagon researcher warns that al Qaeda could plan a nuclear attack on the White House via the popular MMO.
Wired's Danger Room reports that  Dr. Dwight Toavs, a professor at the Pentagon-funded National Defense University laid out such a scenario at the National Intelligence Open Source Conference in Washington, D.C. last week:
...two World of Warcraft players discuss a raid on the "White Keep" inside the "Stonetalon Mountains." The major objective is to set off a "Dragon Fire spell" inside, and make off with "110 Gold and 234 Silver" in treasure. "No one will dance there for a hundred years after this spell is cast," one player, "war_monger," crows.

Except, in this case, the White Keep is at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. "Dragon Fire" is an unconventional weapon. And "110 Gold and 234 Silver" tells the plotters how to align...

What Every World of WarCraft Alliance Player Must Know.
2009-09-01 00:00:00
I have compiled a list of the most important things every WOW player on the Alliance must know and have narrowed it down to five. Read them below.

1.) If you want to go solo, get yourself a Night Elf Hunter or a Warlock.

While there isn't any one particular character template that works perfectly for soloing, this is about the best that there is on the Alliance side. First, there really isn't any equal level monster in the game that a properly tricked out Hunter can't tackle one-on-one without breaking a sweat. While Warlocks are a bit more fragile, they have an excellent complement of damage dealing spells that will let them survive - albeit while taking more damage. Unfortunately, many creatures will attack in groups if they notice one of their buddies getting pounded on (Elite creatures are particularly nasty with this).

That's where pets come in, Any "Pet" class can use their animal (or demonic) companion to do what's called "crowd control" - basically pulling one creature away from a group and a time and killing it. The Warlock's Void Walker is particularly good at this. Night Elves quest lines at low levels are also pretty self-contained within the geographically isolated Teldrassil, meaning you never ...
Blizzard Confirms New MMO, WoW Can Still Grow
2010-02-06 00:00:00
For the past few months, Blizzard has been full of surprises for the gaming community (even though most of their official statements were common sense and everybody was expecting to hear them sooner or later). However, it seems that the company now loves to share its secrets - and so do we. For example, during the latest Activision Blizzard investor phone call, Blizzard's president, Mike Morhaime has confirmed that his company is working on a brand new massively multiplayer online game! However, he stopped there and offered no further details due to "competitive reasons", but this is huge! Especially since it could be a brand new IP and a brand new universe! During the same call, Morhaime admitted that Blizzard still hopes that World of Warcraft, the biggest MMO gam...
Points of Review!

Good afternoon my little dears! What with today being the anniversary of young Thomas's birth, I've been called in from the tearoom to wade through his bundle of reader ruminations, while he tends to his birthday correspondence and sups on a slice of carrot cake. His grandparents sent him such a lovely card, too. I hope he likes his sweater. I think he looks so handsome in plaid. Now then, where did I put my spectacles?
According to the little list Thomas left on the mantle, I'm supposed to tell you that the prize for this week's most enjoyable submissi...
